For the Quiet Ones With Deep Worlds

Hello,

I want to speak today to those of you who are quiet, not because you have nothing to say, but because there’s a lot happening inside.

Once upon a time, that was me. Someone who wouldn’t say ‘boo’ to a goose! Someone who sat in class looking at the beautiful patterns on the carpet, and as I grew and entered my 30’s, the someone who didn’t want to stand up and be heard in meetings in case I was knocked back down again.

However, now in my 40’s, I know that quiet is often misunderstood. It’s mistaken for uncertainty or hesitation, when in reality it can be full of reflection, thought, and deep consideration. I’ve always been someone who thinks before I speak, who listens more than I talk, who waits until something feels true before sharing it.

There’s strength in that, even if the world doesn’t always recognise it straight away. I have come to realise that you don’t owe anyone constant commentary or instant answers. Depth takes time. Clarity arrives when it’s ready. And sometimes, the best thing you can say is nothing at all.

There is courage in that. Courage I wish I could tell my younger self existed.

If you’ve ever felt overlooked because you don’t shout the loudest, please know this: still waters move deep. And the world needs your steadiness more than it realises.

Be you and believe in yourself because you don’t need to change how you are to be enough. You already are.

With much love, Fiona.x
