If you have been following the blog journey so far of Faith and Harris, you might understand my excitement just a little bit (!) at finally seeing them both together. Even in these early, black and white sketches, by the wonderfully talented Oshadi Sandareka, you can feel it. The difference between them, and the connection that quietly holds them in place. Just like most siblings... like chalk and cheese, yet joined by something unseen. Faith stands with a sense of knowing, as older siblings...

Meet Harris... the first design at least. When my daughter's became a big sister, and once my son was old enough, they would play outside all the time together in our garden. She would speak of the fairy that lived behind the door in our fence and leave notes for her, which were magically answered overnight. As I watched my children play and the fun they had writing and receiving letters from Pip, our fairy, a story began to grow in my mind with two very different main characters. One strong...

Meet Faith... the initial design at least There’s something quietly special about seeing a character for the very first time. As I write a story, there are often images of the characters in my head, which helps my words come alive, but it isn't until an illustrator works their magic, that everything falls into place. Faith has lived in my heart for a long while now. Not just as a character in a story, but as a feeling. A gentle reminder of that little part of us which still believes there...
