Harris is a Little Braver Than Before

When a book has more than one character, they have to 'talk' to each other in a way that not only the words on the page show. Readers need to see expressions as well as feel them, so when I met Harris in colour for the first time, it made me smile from ear to ear.
Seeing Harris is colour conveys all is cute, mischieviousness, inquisitive personality all at once. He wants to believe and trust his older sister, Faith, but there is something that holds him back.
He’s still cautious, still questioning, but there’s something in his expression now that feels a little more willing and curious.
He appears a little more brave than he was before, because in this book, bravery doesn’t always look like certainty. Sometimes, it looks like staying when you’d rather step back. Like listening, even when you’re not sure you believe, and allowing yourself to wonder just a little bit more than you did yesterday.
Harris reminds me every day that you don’t have to be the most confident in the room to grow, you just have to be willing to take one small step closer within yourself.
If you’d like to be part of Harris's journey as he grows, with more of his world still to be revealed before his autumn release, I share little glimpses and gentle updates through my newsletter:
