As an author and writer, there are times when an image, a reflection, a phrase, or a moment in time just inspires words effortlessly.
After seeing a recent photo of myself (not the image used here of this beautiful woman I hasten to add!) and despite still feeling like I was much younger, the photo revealed otherwise, haha. It's not that I am old in any way, but like everyone, not the younger model I once was. My eyes, however, still glow with the mischievous and fun spirit of my happy soul and this got me thinking and writing the following short poem.
Reflection
There is a face that’s looking back at me,
It’s older than it was before.
Darker skin, wrinkles, and thinning hair;
All welcomed and adored.
My reflection tells a story
That my earthly body is ageing
Though my eyes; they don’t deceive me,
My cosmic soul is never changing.
Inside, I still feel ten years old,
I am young and full of dreams.
Strong, loving, harmonious,
Eternally reigning supreme.

However we see our reflection in the mirror, or in a photograph, we have to remember that what we see is a vessel for our true, happy being to enjoy life in this world.
