Today is National Tea Day in the UK, and we DO love a good cup of tea, in all its various varieties and flavours.
Do you have a favourite tea?
I share with you a poem I wrote at university, complimenting a concept for a contemporary tea container I designed to hold Japanese Green Tea, and celebrate the Eastern and Western tea cultures:
Anyone For Tea?
(Fiona Lowry)
All those of you from Japan
Rise as one and make a stand
With each European, hear our plea
To join us for a cup of tea?
‘One Lifetime and one meeting’ – save
Then one moment of your time and stay
To treasure a ritual, a work of art
To join two worlds so far apart.
Stop everything and take a break
Fill up your cup with tea to taste.
Relax, enjoy; but before you go –
There’s always time for just one more!
Amazing! How it is to see
A liquid so delicate as tea
To be so strong and take a stand
In bringing Europe closer to Japan.
