Yesterday was my first book reading with the amazing children, staff, and parents of Paddington's Nursery, King Street, Perth.
Having never done a book reading before, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, although I was truly excited about the prospect. It was the most relaxed, fun, and enjoyable morning I have had in a long time.
As expected, the children did not disappoint with their amusing comments. I began with "Do you have a dream? What would you like to be when you're older?"
Enthusiastic hands shot up into the air in front of me. The first answer was "I want to be an astronaut" and I thought, brilliant, this is great, what an answer to begin with.
Secondly, came a little girl declaring "I want to be in the police" - following in her mother's footsteps it seemed.
The third answer from another little girl in the front row however was priceless - "I want to be a witch"
There is nothing quite like a wonderful innocent comment from a child to stop you in your tracks!
Paddington's Nursery has been a huge part of our family as both my children attended since they were 9 months old, until they started school. The staff are second to none and even walking in yesterday (albeit strange not dropping off or picking up a child!) it was just like being home again.
I am so grateful to have been invited and it was a pleasure to spend time with the staff, children, and parents.
