Don't Go, Gordon written by Peter Armitage

flowry28

A story of intrigue, espionage, and adventure. Full of twists and turns until the final sentence!

I don't often read fictional books these days, but I was recently made aware of this story based on true events, and historical facts, with a main character of Scottish heritage. I couldn't resist picking up my own copy and have not been able to put it down since.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Don’t Go, Gordon is written by the great-nephew of the main character, who left the UK in the 1900’s. Gordon travelled to China and upon his arrival in Shanxi, was caught up in the Boxer Riots. From this point, his life takes on twists and turns that he could never have imagined. In 1917, Gordon finds himself wrapped up in a Russian plot where he plays a central role with potentially devastating consequences.

With the hope of returning to his homeland of Scotland and seeing his grandparents once more, the author effortlessly weaves emotions and dreams into the main plot, building your connection with Gordon.

This is a story based on the true events of one man’s life through the turmoil of foreign persecution and political upheaval. Full of historical facts, with imaginations interlaced through the storyline bringing the reader full circle and feeling part of the action. I absolutely loved this book and can’t recommend it enough.

Don’t Go, Gordon is the perfect book for anyone who likes intrigue, espionage, and adventure. Full of twists and turns until the final sentence. Don’t Go, Gordon is a must for your book collection.
