Let all children be friends with books

**Signed Book Donation to 5 local Primary School Libraries**

I have always loved books. I remember snuggling into my black and white leopard-print beanbag in front of my bedroom radiator as a child, with my copy of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, The Witches, or working my way through the Point Horror series.

I grew up in the idyllic countryside where imaginative outdoor games were a wonderful everyday occurrence. However, the relaxing, peaceful time of reading a book, transported me to another world. A world full of excitement and emotions, where stories made my heart race and my breath quicken. Engrossed in the characters, the plot, and the adventures, I whittled away hours of reading.

This October is International School Library Month (ISLM). The theme of which is “The School Library: My Happy Place where Creativity and Imagination flourish." As the ISLM website so correctly states, libraries and reading books forge bonds, not only between a child and the book but also between other like-minded children. School Libraries are a place to express and discuss stories; appreciate the imaginative journey that a book has taken them on; and encourage creativity around the themes of that book.

In celebration of International School Library Month, I will be donating a signed copy of my new book Meeting Pip to 5 local primary school libraries. If you are interested in being one of the 5, please leave a message on this blog, and if you know of a school that might be grateful for a new book by a local award-winning author, please share. Thank you.

I'll post later this month with the 5 winning schools.

Meeting Pip, written by Fiona Lowry

"Meeting Pip is a heartwarming tale that sparks the imagination and reminds us of the magic in everyday life" (Kitty Paw, Author)

"With lots of colourful illustrations, there is a lot going on to prompt more discussion - I especially love how the fairy door changes - a great one to see if your youngster has spotted the differences. I really love how this promotes getting outside to play and to use your imaginations. An early prompt to help the children see what joys there can be outdoors and away from the screens all day." (Sonja Chalmers, blogger)

"Meeting Pip is an adorable story. I love, love, love it! As I was reading this magical story about fairies to my two little boys, even I couldn't wait to see what would happen next." (Sarah Geddes, Author)

Blurb

Do you believe in the tooth fairy? Imagine, if, at the bottom of your garden there lived a fairy - what would you do?

Faith and Harris play around the old oak tree at the bottom of their garden. This is known as the Fairy Woods, but has anyone ever seen a fairy, or is it just stories from grandparents?

Harris doesn't believe in fairies but when his older sister sees something new on the oak tree, she sets out to prove that they are real. Only then do the fun conversations begin with Pip and the children start to see the world in a whole new way.

**Release 13th October 2023**
